The Problem

University students waste weeks on exam prep because traditional study methods force them through the same repetitive flashcards, provide only 3-4 practice questions per topic, and offer confusing explanations that don't match how their professors teach. When they turn to paid tools like Quizlet or Chegg, they hit aggressive paywalls ($8-20/month they can't afford), get wrong answers that waste their time, and face deceptive billing practices that charge them for years after canceling.

“What the heck. Every single time. I see a good flashcard set for my English I test tomorrow. But, of course, it's locked behind ANOTHER SUBSCRIPTION. It only lets me answer 14 questions. As a student, I am NOT paying 8$ per month for that. I'm broke. "Bro just pay 8$ it's not that much." Be quiet. I'm done with that. The kids would understand, not the multi-millionaire company that charges people to learn. By the way, finally got sick of looking into other people's flashcards so I created my own. You know what happened? CHARGED AGAIN. FOR MY OWN SET. What in the world is Quizlet trying to accomplish? I dunno man I'm just trying to GET A GOOD GRADE AND LEARN HOLY CRAP”

“Bought it. €20. To assist with courses. None of the answers were correct”

“The worst part of it all is you can ONLY DO 3 practice tests and then your done...? THREE is NOT enough to prepare you for any test at all.”

“The examples were confusing, did not help, and if you got two questions wrong, you had to restart. The lessons were way too long, and Khanmigo and Khan Academy did not help me at all. ELA was also confusing, and there were answers alike, but only one was correct.”

“It may be free, but the learning system and how it tries to explain the topics to the student, isn't so great. I find it so hard to understand a simple topic my teacher taught before summer break, and now Im trying to regain the knowledge, Khan academy either does it in a completely different and hard way, or doesn't explain it at all.”

“Be careful with Chegg's auto-renewal. I subscribed in September 2023 while studying and stopped using the service shortly afterwards. What disappointed me most is that I did not receive any renewal reminder emails or notifications over the following years, yet I continued to be charged every month until May 2026. When I contacted support, they referred to their Terms of Use and stated that subscriptions are non-refundable. It's unreasonable that a subscription can continue for nearly three years without any renewal reminders being sent. Please check your subscriptions carefully.”

“Answers are wrong all the time, has ads even though you are paying for a subscription, and asks you for a one time code every time you enter the app on mac. You should just use chatGPT/Claude instead of this horrible app.”

“i do not love how it is not spaced repetition with the flashcards”

G2 Review ↗
David Kuhs

“The 170-question practice test repeated the same questions over and over. I saw some of the same questions close to a dozen times, which made the test feel incomplete and unrealistic. The multiple-choice questions were poorly designed. In many cases, only one answer even related to the question. For example, a math story problem asking for a numerical answer would have one option with a number, while the other three choices were unrelated building code topics. There was no real testing of knowledge because the correct answer was obvious.”

Not telling

“Constantly begs for people to get a subscription to improve their learning experience and do different ways of learning rather than just the flashcards. Pop-ups are also constant, so they clearly just want more money. Incredibly awful if you want anything more than just flashcards with ads and constant begging for subscriptions.”

“They hide content to get you to sign up, then when you sign up, show very little content to get you to pay. AS STUDENTS WE HAVE ENOUGH BILLS LIKE SERIOUSLY”

“My son tried it but not the best experience. Is not personalized, I will try it again and report back.”
