PanicGuard - Instant Panic Attack Relief

Calm in seconds, not subscriptions

For
Anxiety sufferers experiencing panic attacks who have been burned by predatory billing practices from Calm and Headspace
Who are
Frustrated by immediate $70-80 charges on 'free trials,' account lockouts during moments of need, and bot-only customer support that ignores refund requests for weeks
We build
Panic attack relief tool that works instantly via web browser with guided breathing animations and voice walkthroughs—zero signup, zero payment walls, zero friction when panic strikes
Unlike
Calm which charges users $79.99 instantly on 'free trials' and locks paying customers out of accounts for weeks with only bot support
Headspace which shows false free trial offers to ineligible users and immediately charges annual fees without warning
Insight Timer which bombards users with aggressive upsell popups and takes months to respond to support requests
We deliver
Immediate panic relief accessible in 5 seconds via any web browser without account creation or payment
Radically transparent pricing with no auto-renewal traps, prorated refunds always available, and clear trial end dates with multiple reminders
2-5 minute guided breathing interventions specifically designed for acute panic episodes, not generic 20-minute meditation sessions
So that
Anxiety sufferers can access reliable panic relief instantly when they need it most, without financial stress or technical barriers, and pay only after experiencing real value
Revenue potential
$35K MRR
Build time
6-8 weeks for MVP (web app with core breathing exercises and voice guidance)
Target market
Anxiety sufferers experiencing panic attacks globally, particularly those aged 18-45 who have been burned by predatory billing from Calm/Headspace and seek immediate, honest relief tools

The Problem

When panic strikes, anxiety sufferers need immediate relief but face predatory billing traps, account login failures, and apps that demand payment before proving value. Existing meditation apps like Calm and Headspace charge users $70-80 instantly on 'free trials' without warning, lock paying customers out of their accounts for weeks, and offer only bot support when things go wrong—creating acute financial stress for people already struggling with anxiety.

“PREDATORY business. I signed up for the free trial and during that time I decided I did not want the service. They did not send an email to warn me that my trial was ending and that my card would be charged $69.99. They say they sent an email but I can't find it and never saw it. Upon receiving an email receipt with the $69.99 charge I IMMEDIATELY reached out to tell them I did not want the service and was not informed my trial was up. They said sorry but we can go ahead and cancel the renewal so you won't be charged again NEXT YEAR. What about this year? That's a lot of money for some people. I don't want the service. I feel scammed.”

“Wish I'd looked at these reviews instead of the App market reviews. I signed up yesterday for a 14 day free trial and have immediately be charged the annual fee (£49.99). Knowing there are so many scams out there, I did screen shot the transaction and have confirmation of the 14 day free offer. I have reported it to Apple and requested a refund. It's a shame people would rather waste their talents on scamming people than actually just providing a product they can be confident people will value and appreciate enough to spend the money on willingly. DO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS APP.”

“Calm emailed me on Sept 9, 2026 confirming my free trial was cancelled and that my Premium access would simply end — no mention of any charge. The very next day, Sept 10, I was charged $79.99 for an 'annual subscription' I never bought. I opened a support ticket (#1553000) the same day and even confirmed it wasn't an Apple purchase so they couldn't deflect it. Since then: three identical automated replies over three weeks, one of them literally sending me a relaxation video instead of an answer. No refund, no human reply, three weeks and counting. For a company selling calm, this process is the opposite of it.”

“Thieves and Frauds - they offer a 7 day free trial and then even when you cancel, they charge you the full yearly subscription. Do not touch this app. Far from causing anyone to feel calm, they cause cortisol spikes and anger.”

“Like many others I had a valid subscription to the app which I used regularly and had no problems with. Then out of the blue the premium content disappeared, everything showed in dollars (not euros) and my Calm subscription could not be found, despite being right there in my Apple subscriptions. It is valid to Feb 2027 but Calm refuses to restore the subscription which it claims cannot be found. I have sent them the receipt for payment on multiple occasions but no response for an entire month, other than occasional bot telling me to change my password.”

“Have used Calm for a couple of years with no issues. Suddenly, my Premium subscription disappeared and I cannot log in. It has been over a week and all I get from them are bot responses that say they are looking into it. Very disappointing. It appears they have a big problem with customer service.”

“Steer clear of this company -Calm. Cancelled my subscription the month prior to renewal but still they deducted £49.99 from my account. Needed to involve the bank to recoup money. Shocking business practice. No customer service. It's none existent. Join at your peril.”

“I have been a 'customer' for years. Was happy with insight timer. But I was recently 'asked' to sign up as a therapist. I would receive a 'free' upgraded account - in turn I refer clients. I had no problem with referring clients, because I liked IT a lot. BUT, I can not log into the therapist account with my app and have been trying to get help for over 6 months. The ONLY responses I receive are EMAIL responses that a) take months to arrive and b) do NOT address my problem. They offer ZERO help. I'm done with this platform. I've sent many people to them but they will do absolutely NOTHING to help me get this messy transition handled. They have NO customer service.”

“I was offered a '14-Day Free Trial' prompted internally on opening the application. I decided to accept the offer and was immediately charged a year subscription with no free trial. I contacted Headspace who advised the free trial is a one off thing and apparently I had a free trial in 2021. However, nowhere in the offer did it state that you aren't eligible if you have already had a free trial and if you aren't eligible then you shouldn't be offered a free trial. Headspace then didn't provide any resolution and instead stated I need to follow up with Apple citing that is it Apple who initiate and manage the free trial and payment. This is false information”

“The website is absolutely ******** abysmal. I've used Headspace on and off for years and its never got better. Currently when I login it comes up with a broken we are having issues page and I can't use any other features onthe desktop website, been this way for 3 days... zero support on the issue. How a live site that people pay for can just accept their site being down unavailable for multiple days is beyond me.”

“Absolute nightmare. Wasted an hour already on a VERY STRESSFUL process to get an app that is, ironically, supposed to help with stress. On my way to just deleting. Side note: Sick of the pointless and stupid AI 'assistance' emails and the AT LEAST ten steps to create accounts, links accounts, bypass trials if using it as a 'covered' service.”

“Im so furious with Calm app. I've been a fully signed up Calm Premium members for over 7yrs..loyally renewing every year. For some reason, I went to log in as I usually do daily and it said I had no subscription but I have evidence that I've paid untilFeb 2027.. I've spent hours with the ridiculous auto bot rubbish to get it resolved.. only to get an email days later from a robot saying I should this and that...which I'd already done !! Calm app is such a rip off..I'm so stressed. and what really upsets me.. I only bought the app for the lullaby that help my young daughter get to sleep religiously every night and without it she struggles.”
